Marrakech Walls plaster paint

Elevate your textured wall design with unparalleled creative expression using lime-plaster paint

Description

Discover our eco-friendly, 100% mineral, lime-based plaster paint offering luxuriously soft, textured architectural finishes. With a single coat application that is both easier and faster than regular plaster finishes, you can achieve the wall texture, color depth and color variation that you desire.

What the finish looks like

Marrakech Walls produces a tactile, uneven surface that catches light differently across the wall — similar to natural plaster or a concrete-like finish. Color depth varies subtly across the surface, giving the wall an organic, handcrafted quality. Depending on how many layers are applied and how the trowel is worked, the finish can appear as raw concrete (more texture, less smoothing), soft plaster (mid-level smoothing), or a polished tadelakt-like surface (more burnishing). It suits interiors that draw on Mediterranean, North African, wabi-sabi, or organic modern aesthetics.

Characteristics

  • Textured finishes—from concrete and plaster matte finishes, to high-gloss Tadelakt-like using Italian Wax, to a subtle sheen using lime soap.
  • Over 190 natural pigments with subtle to dramatic color shading that varies per color.
  • Mold and bacteria resistance due to the high pH of limestone.
  • Water-repellent and washable after saturation with Dead Flat Eco Sealer.
  • Paint made from high-quality natural ingredients in our 100% solar-powered factory.
Sample options and pro-tips

Color accuracy:

Lime-based paints may appear lighter than on the color card but finishes like Dead Flat Eco Sealer will darken the color. Shade variation depends on color and application; dark colors may reveal lime shading, light colors show subtle variations, and whites exhibit minimal or no variations in color.

Samples recommended:

Digital screens are not a reliable source for color selection. It’s best to order our hand-painted color card.

500 ml sample pots are also available for purchase exclusively at the online store to test for accurate coverage and color representation on your surface and light conditions.

Surface preparation:

In most cases, proper adhesion requires preparation with Wallprim or, in some cases, with Omniprim multi-primer. Marrakech Walls is a 100% mineral product and does not adhere well to synthetic surfaces such as drywall, sheetrock, regular paint coats, and other primers.

We also recommend practicing on a sample board prior to starting your project to achieve your desired finish. If you are not comfortable DIY, ask your installer to create a sample board for you.

Theoretical coverage:

A 2.5-liter can of Marrakech Walls covers about 145 ft2.

coverage may vary depending on the underground, application technique, and dilution

Pro-tips:

Please ensure that you read the step-by-step instructions, along with the application video, which has been helpful to many. Being well-informed about “dos and don’ts” will help avoid mistakes that can negatively impact the project.

Notes about Marrakech Walls XD (deep and dark colors):

Avoid dilution with base XD. Water activates lime, causing light spots in dark and deep colors.

Apply a thin coat of base XD to prevent the accumulation of product and water, which can cause a white reaction in dark and deep colors.

Avoid excessive sanding with base XD.

Frequently Asked Questions about Marrakech Walls

Visit our FAQ page for more information.

  • What is the difference between Marrakech Walls plaster paint and Fresco lime paint?

The difference between Fresco lime paint and Marrakech Walls, a lime-plaster-paint, is mainly the texture. Fresco lime paint provides a brushed effect, while Marrakech Walls offers a more tactile, concrete-like texture. Both are beautiful in their own unique way, providing a rustic charm and sophisticated elegance to any space. Learn more here.

  • Is Marrakech Walls the same as tadelakt?

Marrakech Walls is a tadelakt-look finish — it is not the same, but it achieves a similar aesthetic using a lime plaster paint applied with a trowel. Traditional tadelakt is a time-intensive specialist plastering technique. With sufficient burnishing, Marrakech Walls can achieve a high-gloss tadelakt-like surface, but it uses a different formulation and process. Although a second layer is possible, it is a single coat procedure.

  • Do you have any textured wall ideas using Marrakech Walls paint?

From bedroom to kitchen, bathroom design, and beyond, we’ve curated a collection of wall texture design ideas and interior design projects here to inspire you. Whether you’re aiming for natural textures, industrial finishes like concrete, Tadelakt, and more, Pure & Original Marrakech Walls, a lime-based plaster paint, provides the versatility and simplicity to get the job done. With just one coat of lime wash paint, you can effortlessly transform your interior space into a captivating masterpiece of texture and timeless style.

  • What are the benefits of using lime-plaster paint to create textured walls?

Choosing a lime-based plaster paint like Pure & Original Marrakech Walls for textured walls offers numerous benefits. It is an eco-friendly paint with zero VOC levels, allows breathability and moisture regulation, and provides versatile texture options. Lime plaster has natural antibacterial properties, ensuring a healthier environment. Its durability and longevity reduce the need for frequent repainting in high traffic areas, and its aesthetic appeal adds a timeless and warm touch to walls. Application is easy, often requiring just one coat, and it is compatible with various surfaces, making it a versatile choice for both new construction and previously painted surfaces.

  • How do you apply plaster paint?

To apply lime-based plaster paint like Pure & Original Marrakech Walls, start with a clean and primed surface. In most cases, proper adhesion requires preparation with our Wallprim primer. Stir the plaster according to our instructions and apply it evenly using a roller or block brush followed by a trowel or spatula to achieve the desired textures. Allow the plaster to dry thoroughly, and optionally, burnish the surface for a polished look. For added protection, use a sealer finish like Dead Flat Sealer.

For detailed instructions, refer to the Marrakech Walls technical data sheet.

  • What finishes can Marrakech Walls produce?

Depending on trowel technique and the level of burnishing applied, Marrakech Walls can produce finishes ranging from raw concrete and hand-applied plaster through to a high-gloss tadelakt-like surface. The application process (how the trowel is used after the initial coat) determines the final look.

  • Can Marrakech Walls be used in a bathroom?

Yes, with sealing. In low-moisture bathrooms and powder rooms it can be used with minimal sealing. In areas with direct water contact, steam, or regular splashing, a compatible sealer or protective topcoat is required. Without sealing, moisture will degrade the finish over time. It’s not recommended for the interior of a shower cabin.

  • What surfaces can Marrakech Walls be applied to?

It can be applied to painted walls, newly plastered walls, non-woven wallpaper, lime and concrete plaster, aerated concrete, suction mineral stones, drywall, plaster blocks, wood, and other mineral surfaces. Synthetic substrates (incl synthetic paint and primer), unpainted or highly porous surfaces should be primed with Wallprim first.

  • Is Marrakech Walls suitable for a DIY project?

This product is very popular with DIYers. Trowel technique does require some understanding of angle, pressure, timing after the initial coat, in order to get the right outcome. Practice on a sample board before starting a full wall.

  • Is Marrakech Walls lime plaster paint an eco-friendly paint?

Marrakech Walls lime-plaster paint is eco-friendly and processed in a sustainable way. Our paints boast natural ingredients and pigments, avoiding unnecessary additives. They are entirely vegan, free from animal by-products, and cruelty-free. Our dedication extends to sustainable packaging—our cans are 100% recyclable steel with PET labels. We minimize printing by offering digital brochures upon request. Pure & Original also provides eco-conscious tools like brushes and trowels made of FSC-certified beech wood. Proudly, our factory operates fully on solar energy, marking a leadership role in sustainability.

  • What is the difference between plaster paint and clay paint?

Plaster paint, often lime-based, is more durable and provides a wide range of color variation and textures, from smooth to textured. Clay paint, made from natural clay and minerals, offers a matte finish with subtle color variations. Both are breathable and environmentally friendly. The choice between them depends on factors such as desired texture, application complexity, environmental considerations, and aesthetic preferences.

Plaster paint provides unparalleled artistic possibilities, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a unique and personalized finish. Pure & Original Marrakech Walls is more accessible than regular plaster paint and clay paint, because it usually requires only a single coat application, which is both easier and faster to apply!
